On January 16, 2020, Executive Vice-President of the LaundryCares Foundation Dan Naumann visited the headquarters of Dexter Laundry, Inc., in Fairfield, IA. Dan’s mission included connecting with Craig Kirchner, Dexter’s President, to present the company with a plaque recognizing the laundry equipment manufacturer as Signature Sponsor of the LaundryCares Foundation. The meeting held a pleasant surprise for Dan as Craig bestowed a beautifully crafted bronze statue of Dexter’s namesake thoroughbred to LaundryCares making the 501(c)3 charitable organization one of only a few laundry-industry recipients of a Dexter 125-year recognition award.
The exchange of awards and recognition took place during a company meeting with the Dexter Laundry leadership team at Dexter’s corporate facility. The company celebrated its 125th year serving the commercial and vended laundry industry. The award presented to Dan by Craig reads “125 Years and Still Going Strong”, a testament to the longevity of their business and indicating the strength of the relationships with recipients of this prestigious trophy.
Dexter Laundry has made many contributions through the years to support the mission and vision of the LaundryCares Foundation. Being a Signature Sponsor, their financial contribution in part with that of other corporate sponsors has helped LaundryCares to perform the various initiatives conducted throughout 2019. Among the projects completed or enhanced by this financial support are several Free Laundry Day events, the launch of many Family Read, Play & Learn Spaces in laundromats, expanded outreach to communities throughout the nation, and the trend of making the local vended-laundry business a place of learning and engagement for neighborhood families.
Dexter has also committed to installing a Family Read, Play & Learn Space in their model store at 2211 W Grimes Ave., Fairfield, IA 52556 to serve as an example for store owners to make a place to advance literacy through laundromats and everyday spaces.
