The Laundry Literacy Coalition – a collaboration among several like-minded organizations, including the LaundryCares Foundation, Too Small to Fail, and a growing list of libraries and learning institutions –  is excited to welcome and recognize participating laundromats who have purchased, installed, and activated Family Read, Play & Learn Space kits in their businesses.

The LaundryCares Foundation and the other members of the Laundry Literacy Coalition have as part of their mission to help laundry professionals have access to high-quality tools, fixtures, and books which promote literacy among kids in undeserved communities. It’s not just the families of these children who benefit from the books and other resources being made readily available. The laundry industry is seeing a transformation in it’s ability to serve its customers beyond the laundromat.

LaundryCares Family Read, Play & Learn Spaces include sturdy, school-grade furniture, book storage, and other kid-friendly amenities. The purchase of each kit provides owners a monthly subscription through Scholastic of books which can be distributed and taken home by the families to continue the learning at home. These spaces are often activated through partnerships with local libraries or learning institutions who help owners to arrange story times and to organize the spaces for optimal benefit to patrons.
