LaundryCares Pays It Forward for Baltimore During Free Laundry Day
On July 28th 2016 the LaundryCares Foundation hosted a Free Laundry Day at Laundry City, located at 5200 Moravia Rd. Baltimore MD 21206. The event was a huge success in providing free laundry for the community in which Laundry City served. Check out the media coverage from ABC 2 News WMAR. The foundation hopes to add the upcoming Free Laundry Day to the list of other successful outreach attempts accomplished since its inception. Hundreds of loads of laundry are completed during each Free Laundry Day, and the 28th was no exception. “Free laundry days are the highlight of what LaundryCares does each and every year” commented Coin Laundry Association President, Brian Wallace. “The impact a single load of laundry can make on a family isn’t lost to us, and it’s humbling to see the good it does in a community. Our goal is to continue to host free laundry days and reach more families in need across the nation.”
Not Just Your Typical Tax Day 2015
The Laundry Project and LaundryCares Foundation teamed up to offer a day of service on April 15 – the day prior to Clean 2015 in Atlanta. For six years, The Laundry Project has hosted hundreds of “free laundry” days throughout the country in an effort to give back to local communities with a service as important as laundry. The event was a huge success in providing a free laundry day to residents in the surrounding Atlanta communities. In one day, 2100 loads of laundry was washed and dried in less than three hours.
Home Sweet Home
On June 17, 2009, thirty-six industry professionals, representing a number of manufacturers and distributors as well as some store owners, gave freely of their time, spending the day in the East New Orleans heat, helping to build a new house for Habitat for Humanity. In just that one day of hard work, the laundry industry volunteers installed all of the siding and then painted the majority of the house. “We are truly fortunate to be in an industry were competing manufacturers, competing distributors and store owners can come together and enjoy working together for a common good,” said Chris Balestracci, who was one of many volunteers that sunny day in New Orleans.
The impact a single load of laundry can make on a family isn’t lost to us, and it’s humbling see the good it does in a community. Our goal is to continue to host free laundry days and events alike to reach more families in need across the nation.
