The LaundryCares Foundation wishes to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to all of the volunteers who helped make the Free Laundry Day in New Orleans on June 19, 2019 a success! This event was held the day before the nation’s largest trade show and convention for the laundry industry, The Clean Show, and it ran from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at two laundry locations. The generous support and service demonstrated by laundry professionals and community members was amazing.
Together, we helped 189 local families wash more than 20,000 lbs. of laundry and bring smiles on the faces of everyone involved. Guests were treated to free food and entertainment – including BBQ by laundry owner and pitmaster Paul Pettefer, poboys by Melba’s, a live DJ, a “second-line” jazz band, storytelling for the kids, bike and TV giveaways, and more!
Best of all, we were able to experience a successful launch of the new Family Read, Play & Learn Spaces in each store which delighted the kids and their families. 800 books were given away to children to foster their development! Family Read, Play & Learn Spaces create comfortable environments for children to read and learn while visiting the laundromat with their families. They are curated packages available from the LaundryCares Foundation created in conjunction with Too Small to Fail and Lakeshore Learning.
